Hey RC, I've owned DrumTrax for many years now, and while they have done a fairly decent job overall with their patterns, I feel that Groove Monkee Rock still comes across as being much more musical and realistic sounding. And you have certainly done your homework for making Groove Monkee integrate right into SONAR 4's Session Drummer as well as doing a MIDI File Import. I'm able to go right to work without having to slice up your sequences or add any markers to them. Well done for thinking of this, it goes a long way to helping with productivity. I will also say, that I was still wasn't completely convinced of Groove Monkee since I didn't own any Beatboy Drum Patterns...so this afternoon I went ahead and spent the $20.00 for their Disk 3 - Rock. The Beatboy Rock patterns are very bland in comparison to your Groove Monkee Rock. Your patterns truly sound like a live drummer who is "exercising some creativity" with the grooves, whereas the Beatboy patterns were just a bunch of your typical sounding (heard it before) grooves that gave me the impression of a stiff sounding drum machine. In fact, I was so disappointed by the Beatboy Rock disk that I feel like it was a complete waste of the money. I'm completely satisfied with the quality of your ROCK drum patterns. And if there's one upside of being a serious electronic musician and midiot of 20+ years, I know convincing quality when I hear it...and Groove Monkee has my two thumbs-up!!! Thanks again for doing it right... Nathan Shane http://vettaville.com/homepage.htm |
