Free Battery 4 Kits

A customer recently wrote to ask how our loops could possibly work with both Native Instrument’s Battery 3 and Battery 4 given that their kits are mapped differently. The answer is that we’ve created GM (general MIDI) compatible kits for both versions. These kits are included in all paid products.

If you’d like to try our Free MIDI pack, you can use these two free GM mapped kits for Battery:

You can use these kits as a template to design your own. This should make it easier to work with others and to use any MIDI drum loops you’ve already purchased (but we hope you’ll consider ours too :)

Installation Video

We have an installation video here.

Installing the kits into Battery 4

  1. Copy the kits into your Battery 4 USER "Kits" folder
  2. Open your Battery 4 Preferences: Edit\Preferences (see image below)
  3. Click on the Library tab
  4. Click on the User tab
  5. Press rescan (lower right side)

Note: You’ll find the “Edit” tab to the right of the search icon (see image below).

Finding Your User Kits Folder Location

Here's where you're likely to find your User kits folder:

PC location: C:\Users\[Your Name]\Documents\Native Instruments\Battery 4\Kits

Mac Location: /Users/[Your Name]/Documents/Native Instruments/Battery 4/Kits

Loading a User Kit

  1. Select “Kits” and then the “User” tab (Library tab, next to “Files” tab)
  2. Double click on the kit of your choice

If you get a "Missing Samples" error, select “Search Library” and “Apply to other Battery instances”. (see image below)

Missing Kits?

If the user kits do not appear then they were not installed correctly or you forgot to scan the library!

Missing Samples Issue

For some reason, Battery 4 was designed to NOT scan its library by default when loading user kits. This results in the annoying “Missing Samples” message.

To fix this, look for the “Options” section (lower right), select “Apply to other Battery instances”. Now you’ll be able to load kits without the annoying message. This is only a temporary fix, however. You need to do it each time you create a new Battery session.

Please follow the install instructions VERY CAREFULLY! If not, you won’t be able to install the kits properly.

If you need help, please email our support team. Help is generally available 7 days a week.

Enjoy the free kits and we wish you the best of luck in your music-making endeavors!
